Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) issued the following statement regarding the assassination of Christopher Stevens, U.S. Ambassador to Libya, and three embassy staff members.
"This is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the families of the four American officials who died in Libya, including Ambassador Stevens.
I remember on 9/11 when I was the newest elected member of Congress, we were able to get through that tragedy by trying to calm the nation down and making decisions that were reasonable and rational rather than emotional. We also recognized the need to analyze our policies and examine what we need to change and what should remain the same. We need to do the same thing now. We need to take the time to pause, grieve, get all the facts and examine our policies before altering our foreign policy in Libya and the Middle East."
