Statement on the 11th Anniversary of 9/11

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) had the following remarks on the 11th anniversary of September 11, 2011:

"Today we stop and remember the nearly 3,000 innocent American lives that were lost when our nation was attacked by al Qaeda terrorists eleven years ago. I watched this senseless and unprovoked attack on TV from my office in One Shoreline Plaza. I will never forget the feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized this was a deliberate attack.

"We will always remember those who died that day along with our brave first responders who worked tirelessly saving lives and our military that sacrifice to keep our nation safe in a post 9/11 world. The victims, their families, our law enforcement, first responders and military personnel are always in my prayers."

Congressman Farenthold will pay tribute to the lives that were lost in a bi-partisan Congressional Remembrance Ceremony today on the steps of the United States Capitol Building.
