Economic growth slowed more than was originally reported in the second quarter. GDP for the United States expanded 1.3%, revised down from original estimates reported to be 1.7%.
Dr. Larry Bucshon (IN-08) released the following statement regarding the failed recovery:
"Under President Obama, recovery has meant less jobs, more debt, and higher taxes. We have faced unemployment above 8% for 43 consecutive months, record high gas prices, and families have lost $4,000 of income, all during anemic economy that grew 1.3 percent in the second quarter. Hoosiers cannot afford four more years of economic failure and they cannot afford to elect a rubber stamp, like career politician Dave Crooks, for this president's failed economic policies. Dave Crooks' plan to address this country's economic crisis is to support President Obama's agenda as he has failed to offer his own.
"In August, I kicked off my "Made IN Indiana' tour by releasing an update to my "Jobs and Economic Recovery Plan," a plan to grow the economy and put people back to work. As I have met with businesses across the 8th District, I continue to hear that the Obama-Crooks agenda is failing hardworking Hoosiers.
"We can grow the economy by restoring confidence with our nation's job creators, ending burdensome and costly regulations, reforming the tax code so that American companies are competitive in the global economy, repealing Obamacare, and helping those out of work seek the education and training they need."
