Dear Friend:
Today I was pleased to join with my colleagues to announce an agreement with the nation's leading rental car companies to stop the renting or selling of vehicles that are under safety recall.
Under the agreement, the companies will join with consumers to endorse proposed legislation that I wrote with Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO) to ensure that recalled vehicles stay off the road.
Consumers should never have to worry that the vehicles they rent are unsafe. Our legislation -- and the industry's agreement to support it -- will help protect the safety of all our families.
