Buffet Rule Act, H.R. 3099

Statement

Date: Sept. 27, 2012
Issues: Taxes

I cosponsored this bill which amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow taxpayers to donate any amount (not less than $1) in addition to tax owed to the general fund of the Treasury, which would then be transferred to an account used to reduce the public debt. Donations would be designated by a check-box on a taxpayer's income tax return at the time such return is filed. The bill allows people such as Warren Buffet to pay more in taxes if they believe they are not paying enough already.
