Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Carterville Community Unified School District has received a $359,950 grant through the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program of the U.S. Department of Education. This is the first year of an anticipated three-year grant.
Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program grants allow schools to establish or expand counseling programs, with an emphasis on need and innovative approaches.
"These are important resources that improve the overall school environment," said Costello. "Having well-trained counselors available to advise students helps them reach their academic and personal potential."
