Washington's Failed Polices Hurt Job Creation

Statement

Date: Sept. 20, 2012
Location: Traverse City, MI

Dr. Dan Benishek, today, issued the following statement in response to the Michigan unemployment rate for August, which rose to 9.4 percent according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"Michigan's unemployment rate is too high because the Washington Democrats refuse to take action. The President's healthcare law, the expiring Bush tax cuts and the over burdensome regulations continue to push our unemployment rate higher. Businesses cannot invest and refuse to spend due to the current business climate. Yet the Democrats in Washington are not taking action to improve our economy. Northern Michigan cannot afford to wait--we need the Washington Democrats to step up to the plate and start working on solutions that will help and I have three places they can start--the regulations, the healthcare law and the tax code."
