Statement

Date: Sept. 21, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Infrastructure

Today, Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) released the following statement in response to the Obama Administration's announcement that two of California's regionally and nationally important transportation projects are being expedited. As part of its "We Can't Wait" initiative the Administration is expediting the permitting process for the initial segment of the California High Speed Rail System and an expansion of the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal.

"I am pleased by the Obama Administration's announcement that these significant investments in California's infrastructure will be completed earlier than anticipated. These projects will help create middle class jobs and ease commutes for our workers. The East Bay families I represent suffer from increasing gridlock during their commutes. These projects will go a long way in improving local and regional connectivity. I applaud President Obama's leadership to break free vitally needed infrastructure investments. "
