New Data Shows ObamaCare Continues to Help Insure More Americans

Statement

Ways and Mean Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Pete Stark (D-CA) and Ways and Means Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) today issued the following statements in response to the latest Census Bureau numbers showing a decline in the percentage of uninsured Americans from 16.3 percent in 2010 to 15.7 percent last year:

"Between the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid, it is clear that government performs a critical role regulating the private market and guaranteeing health coverage to millions of people," commented Rep. Pete Stark. "Data released today make it clear that efforts to undermine health reform, Medicare or Medicaid will have devastating effects on the physical and financial health of millions of individuals and families."

"The Census data illustrates that the Affordable Care Act is improving health care in our country," said Rep. Sandy Levin "Millions of young adults have obtained and maintained private health insurance, and Medicaid played a vital role in protecting families and children from losing health care while the economy improves."
