Issues: Education

Education is economic development, education is our hope. However, our much maligned educational system is in the need of New Ideas. Better schools require more than bigger budgets. John has supported legislation that would address our dropout rate, worked to establish a nationally recognized public education and worked with New Mexico businesses to train and prepare our students - our future workforce.

John appreciates the challenges our students who do not go on to college face. By properly preparing them for a career, not just a diploma we improve not only our workforce but their lives and the lives of their families.

By promoting the recreation of the career technical (vocational education) programs in our high schools we can put our children in a position to impact economic development from day one of their careers after high school. By increasing their skill sets earlier in their lives they will increase their earning potential above and beyond simply a living wage.
