When I get to Congress, I will work to repeal Obamacare, which the Supreme Court now calls a $500 billion tax and replace it with market-based reforms that bring down costs, increase accessibility, and improve the quality of our care. I will preserve the safety net for seniors and fight the cuts to Medicaid that have been passed into law by my opponent.
In the 125th Maine Legislature as Senate Majority Leader, we were able to slow the growth of health insurance premiums and in some cases lower health care costs while protecting our most vulnerable. In 2014, Maine people will have the opportunity to begin to purchase health insurance across state lines.
When I am elected to Congress, I will fight to ensure that we preserve and protect Medicare for our children and grandchildren's generations. I believe that anyone over the age of 55 should be assured they are going to be taken care of and anyone under the age of 55 like myself, needs to know that tough decisions will need to be made in order for the system to continue to be viable for future generations.
