Issue Position: Create Maine Jobs

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

As a small business owner, I realize the importance that small businesses like mine play in Maine. We must create an environment where job creators can flourish so we can rebuild our economy- putting Maine and America back to work. Every day I am traveling throughout the First District listening to the concerns of the people of Main Street. My opponent claims to be a voice for small business in Washington, but her voting record has earned her a nine percent rating from the National Federation of Independent Business and a nineteen percent rating from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

In Maine, I had the opportunity to chair the Regulatory Fairness and Reform Committee. This committee led to the unanimous committee support of LD 1 which cut bureaucratic red tape that stands in the way of businesses starting, growing, and creating new jobs for Maine families. This is exactly what we need to do in Washington. We need to restore opportunities for our young people to invest and take chances with the hope of living the American dream. We need to ensure that Washington plays by the same rules as we have to play by right here on Main Street.
