This is a very important issue, but I realize it is something that will be highly contested and will not happen quickly.

As a Libertarian, I believe in absolute property rights. No one should ever have to continue to pay for owning property. You cannot claim to own something if someone else can continue to make you pay for or threaten loss of that property.

Taxes should be moved to a sales taxes or user fees and property owners should be freed from the use of force to threaten their property.

This would also end the detrimental of effects of overzealous politicians that encourage property value increases to collect more tax money. This is one of the many factors that helped build the housing bubble and also locks out lower income families from buying homes in what should be an unmolested market.
