Pearce Statement on the Anniversary of September 11, 2001

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement in remembrance of September 11, 2001:

"On this day, we honor, celebrate, and commemorate the lives and memories of the nearly 3,000 people who perished on a fateful Tuesday 11 years ago. While the horrors that transpired shook the very core of our nation, out of the rubble came the very best of what our nation exemplifies. Among the 3,000 who lost their lives included countless individuals who instead of running for cover selflessly ran towards the danger to help in any way they could. Our nation and the world must never forget the sacrifices made by these individuals, as well as the thousands of firefighters, police officers, passengers, and volunteers who willingly put themselves in harm's way to help others. Heroism is the only word to describe these acts."

"I will never forget the events that took place on September 11, 2001. Nor do I want to. The heroes we talk about today make me proud to be an American and a human. These men and women highlight and epitomize the very best of the human spirit. While nothing can ever extinguish the pain and loss that every family member, friend, and colleague feels for those we lost; we must remember the resiliency, determination and hope that ensued in the weeks and months that followed."

"I take this time today to remember and show my gratitude. I pray for the families of the fallen and for all the men and women who are still courageously serving our nation overseas to defend our freedom. I ask you to join me and keep the families of the fallen and our military members in your thoughts, as we remember the events of September 11."
