To the Editor:

U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo

Eleven years ago, our lives unquestionably changed. With more than 3,000 Americans lost on Sept. 11, 2001, we will never forget the horrific attack on our nation.

In the immediate aftermath, we refocused our efforts to strengthening our security procedures at home and increasing intelligence gathering capabilities abroad.

As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I've seen first hand the increased coordination and stronger partnership between our 16 intelligence agencies.

The results are undisputed: Those efforts have systematically disrupted the al-Qaida terror network responsible for not only the attacks, but the killings of thousands of innocent civilians across the globe. Those efforts have destabilized the terrorist leadership from the caves of Afghanistan to the jungles of Africa. And last year, the cooperation of our intelligence analysts and our Navy Seals brought the ultimate justice to Osama bin Laden.

We will never forget that day, a day that America never wanted to know. We will always honor those who died that day and in subsequent years in defense of our nation. And we will forever be a stronger nation going forward.
