Congressman Tom Reed released the following statement regarding the Department of Labor's unemployment report for August 2012:
"August marks the 43rd straight month with an unemployment rate above eight percent. Families and individuals facing unemployment deserve solutions -- solutions that the current White House and Democratic-led Senate have failed to provide as evidenced by their refusal to take up any of the dozens of jobs-related bills passed by the House. Coupled with a $16 trillion national debt, our country's unemployment rate is only going to improve if we allow businesses to operate free from burdensome government restrictions.
"We have to strengthen efforts at every level to support job creation throughout our state and nation -- more work needs to be done to get government out of the way so our small businesses can create more jobs. We must create a better environment for economic development by implementing a plan to address the national debt, simplifying the tax code, removing excessive regulations, and lowering energy costs by utilizing domestic sources."
