Palazzo Statement Marking the Eleventh Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 Attacks

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steven Palazzo, Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District Representative, today issued the following statement marking the eleventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks:

"Not long ago I had the humbling experience of attending the Christening of the USS Somerset, which is being built this very moment on the Gulf Coast. The USS Somerset was named after the crash site of Flight 93 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was there that I met a woman whose daughter was returning home from college on Flight 93.

"Today, I joined my colleagues on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, to pause with Americans all across this great land, and with heavy hearts remember: the victims of that tragic and fateful day eleven years ago; the first responders who came to their aid; those who have given their lives in battle to ensure we never again see another 9/11; and all the families affected. We stood on the steps of the building where we believe Flight 93 was destined, but for the brave passengers who took it down in a Pennsylvania field. And I thought of that mother whose daughter was on board.

"We will never forget."
