Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-4) released the following statement to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
"We join together today in communities across our country to remember the anniversary of September 11, 2001, and honor the lives of loved ones lost and the families they left behind, including 48 Marylanders and 2,975 Americans. We remember the bravery exhibited by our first responders and those passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 whose heroism and disregard for their own personal safety saved countless lives.
"Since the tragic events of that day, America's service men and women have gone beyond the call of duty to defend American interests with honor and distinction. These individuals deserve a lifetime of our gratitude, including access to health and mental health care, a quality education, and help finding employment.
"We remember the individuals from our communities in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties who lost their lives 11 years ago. I join families, friends, and communities in recognizing and honoring each of them. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their loved ones."
