U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today released the following statement regarding the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"As a nation, we honor the nearly 3,000 victims who perished on that tragic day eleven years ago. All of us who watched those terrible images unfold will forever have vivid memories of that fateful morning.
"But we also remember how, in the wake of tragedy, our nation emerged stronger than ever. The entire world witnessed the courage and sacrifice displayed by so many selfless individuals and saw our country unite in a renewed commitment to defend our freedom.
"The thoughts and prayers of all Americans go out to those who lost loved ones on that day. We will forever be grateful to the many heroes and to the men and women in uniform who continue to stand guard to shield us from tyranny and hate."
