Rooney Statement on Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today issued the following statement on the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks:

"Americans will never forget the horrific attacks against our nation on September 11, 2001, nor the tragic loss of nearly 3,000 innocent lives that day in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon. On that day, I was on base at Ft. Hood with my wife, who was also serving in the Army JAG Corps, and our son Tommy, who had been born just days before. Like all Americans, we were shocked and saddened, but most importantly, we were resolved to do all we could to prevent another tragedy like this from ever occurring again.

"Today, we remember the lives that were lost on 9/11 and the families that mourn them. We honor the heroic first responders who rushed into Ground Zero, many not to return, and the brave patriots who fought back in the skies above Pennsylvania. We recognize our men and women in uniform, who are putting their lives on the line to prevent another attack; our veterans, who served with courage and honor; and our fallen brothers-and-sisters-in-arms, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and security. We will never forget."
