[2nd Amendment]
I came from Caney, Kansas, population 2,500. It was not uncommon for my dad and grandfather to pull over and shoot at something. My first year at the University of Houston, I choose marksmanship as one of the six weeks selections. In order to take the course, they required each student to become a member of the NRA, which I did. There was an indoor range at the school and I did well in the course.
Our right to keep guns in our homes is what makes this country very hard to defeat by conventional means. I believe every able bodied man or woman should have three weapons in their home, an automatic rifle, an eighteen inch 12 gage pump shotgun and a 9mm automatic pistol. That's what I have. In the next couple of weeks, I'll be qualifying for my concealed handgun license. In 2012 we need to look beyond the NRA endorsement and ask ourselves, which one of the candidates is going to do the best job of representing the district in Washington.
