South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan praised Governor Romney's energy plan for the country, calling it "bold" and "exactly what America needs in order to achieve energy independence and grow the economy."
"Governor Romney's energy plan does what President Obama has failed to do, and that's to put America on a path towards energy independence. Governor Romney and I both believe in a broad, all-of-the-above approach to energy. This includes developing our natural resources on land and offshore, expanding nuclear power, developing clean coal, and utilizing wind, solar, hydroelectric, and geothermal sources."
"I am confident that Governor Romney's energy plan will create jobs. When you look at states like North Dakota that have an energy driven economy, you'll notice they have some of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Governor Romney's plan encourages job growth through energy development throughout the nation."
"I was particularly excited to see that Governor Romney specifically mentioned his support for opening up the Carolinas for offshore drilling. A few weeks ago, the US House passed legislation that sought to override President Obama's position that's preventing South Carolina from developing its natural resources along the coast. A recent study shows that oil and natural gas production off the coast of South Carolina has the potential to create over 7,500 new jobs, have a statewide economic impact of over $2.2 billion annually, and generate around $87.5 million in new state revenue."
"I was thoroughly impressed that Governor Romney included the wishes of the people of South Carolina in his national energy proposal," said Duncan.
