Washington is buzzing with the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Obamacare and our efforts in Congress to stop the president's plan to raise taxes and jeopardize more jobs.
I recently voted to completely repeal Obamacare. The government should not stand between you and your doctor. The Repeal Obamacare Act aims to help small businesses hire new workers, uphold the quality of Medicare, and prevent one of the biggest tax hikes in American history. My colleagues and I have voted more than 30 times to defund or dismantle Obamacare, and will continue to fight for common-sense legislation that actually reduces health care costs for families.
While health care may be an uphill battle, we are making great strides in combating prescription drug abuse. Fellow Prescription Drug Caucus members and I recently pressed FDA Commissioner, Margaret Hamburg, in person and on the House floor to significantly beef up the FDA's efforts to combat our nation's fastest growing drug threat. In addition, I co-sponsored the STOPP Act to encourage drug companies to make prescription painkillers difficult to abuse through crushing, snorting or injection. The bill would also empower the FDA in approving tamper-resistant prescription pills.
