Senator Boxer's Statement on Court's Disappointing Cross State Air Pollution Decision

Location: Washington, DC

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, released a statement after a U.S. Court of Appeals issued a 2-1 decision vacating the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Cross State Air Pollution Rule.

Senator Boxer said: "The Cross State Air Pollution Rule is a critical public health safeguard which reduces deadly air pollution that crosses state lines and threatens the health of the American people. EPA's rule saves lives by making our air healthier to breathe, which prevents up to 34,000 premature deaths a year. I urge the Obama Administration to appeal the court's misguided decision."
