I am tired of not being able to get from point A to point B without a traffic jam because there is construction on every major highway. It is a never-ending cycle. We build, expand, and repair the roads. The population grows, the roads wear out, and then we have to build, expand, and repair more roads. Even after we build the roads, one accident can shut down a highway all morning.

The Texas Department of Transportation favors more toll roads as a solution. I oppose the expansion of new toll roads. More toll roads and more traffic jams will be the case forever until we realize that we need a comprehensive mass transit system in every major metropolitan area. Mass transit creates jobs and reduces the number of cars on the road. Fewer cars on the road reduce both pollution and our dependence on oil. It also empowers citizens by providing affordable transportation to get to work and school. Everyone wins with mass transit.
