"The employment report for the month of July is further evidence of the failure of Washington policy makers to address this economic downturn in an effective manner. The increase in the unemployment rate to 8.3% despite the economy adding 163,000 jobs is unacceptable. Politicians like Steny Hoyer who have spent 31 years in Washington DC have neither the understanding nor the hands on experience in the private sector to create the number of jobs needed. Small business, not government, is the economic engine that powers America.
"Out of control government spending by politicians who cannot decide priorities combined with an avalanche of government regulations and uncertain tax rates has stifled business to the point where expansion, investment and hiring have all but disappeared. As a member of Congress, I will use my real world experience to free up the hard working people of Southern Maryland, Prince George's and Anne Arundel Counties from the government implemented barriers that have stalled our economic recovery. Clearly, it's time to make a change."
