Hoyer Urges Students to Vote, Explains New Voting Rights App

Statement

Date: Aug. 9, 2012

Less than three months away from this Fall's election, it is important that every voice is heard and that every eligible voter has the most up-to-date information on how and where to cast their ballot this November. That is why I recently unveiled an interactive voting rights app that offers state-specific data for Maryland and all other states and six U.S. territories. This app includes information on voter registration, new voting requirements, and early voting. To view the app and make sure you have the most current information, click here.

I also taped a special message this week for students urging them to get informed on how and where to vote. Whether you attend University of Maryland, Bowie State University or any other institution of higher learning in the district, we need to make sure every student who wants to vote has the ability to do so. Watch the video to stay informed by clicking here or on the image below:

If you have the right to vote and choose not to use it, you're giving somebody else control of your future. Take your future in your own hands. It's easy, and both Maryland and our country will be better off if you do.

With warmest regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

Steny H. Hoyer
