The United States is fortunate beyond measure for the foresight of our Founding Fathers. They didn't all agree all the time, but they thoughtfully considered and debated the role of government and freedom in our country. When debating the Constitution in 1787, they rightly worried that a central government would grow too big and too powerful. So they wisely added a Bill of Rights that spelled out limits on the Federal government. Among these limits, they enumerated "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" and stated it "shall not be infringed." It doesn't get much clearer than that. Yet, attempt after attempt is made in Washington to limit this right the Founders named for us. Our Founding Fathers had it right, and I am committed to protecting our Constitutional Second Amendment freedom from an overbearing Federal government.
