Pelosi Statement on Shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on yesterday's shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin:

"Our thoughts and prayers rest with the families, friends, and loved ones of those killed in Oak Creek yesterday. And we wish a speedy and successful recovery to those injured in this attack.

"The devastating actions of this lone gunman have no place in our country and in our society. This shooting was not simply an assault on a single congregation of Sikhs; it was an offense against peaceful, innocent people. We condemn this attack in the strongest terms possible.

"All Members of Congress offer our condolences to the victims of this heinous act and to the Sikh community, and we pledge to work with local leaders and authorities to offer our support and assistance during this difficult time."
