As Chief Justice I served as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Alabama Unified Judicial System where I worked extensively with the Executive and Legislative branches concerning the judicial budget and I will continue to do so when elected as Chief Justice. I understand what it means to be a good steward of the public trust and I will ensure the maximum use of the limited available resources.
We cannot afford to ignore wasteful practices, unpaid fines and court costs, and needless bureaucracy. Electronic filing and other technological innovations, developed and implemented during my former term of office, have helped streamline our system, but more is needed. During my first tenure, I was able to ensure that our court system operated efficiently and effectively despite large cuts to the budget during times of severe financial crisis, and I will do so again upon reelection.
