Working families could find relief from high gas prices and record unemployment under H.R. 6082, the Congressional Replacement of President Obama's Energy-Restricting and Job-Limiting Offshore Drilling Plan, which passed the House today by a 253-170 bipartisan vote. 25 Democrats joined 228 Republicans in voting to overturn the President's blocking of new offshore drilling leases.

"High gas prices are a major factor in choking America's economic recovery, and are the direct result of this President's energy policies," says Carter. "The people have been clear in election after election that they want an all-of-the-above energy policy, while this Administration and Democrat leadership continues to block development of our oil and coal resources. If the Senate will take action on this bill we will see relief at the pump, and that will free up family budgets to help get our overall economy out of the ditch the President has driven us into."
