Governor Orders Lowering of Flags for Colorado Shooting Victims Follows Presidential Proclamation

In conjunction with President Barack Obama's proclamation ordering the Flag of the United States of America to be flown at half-staff upon certain Federal facilities, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert today authorized the lowering of the Flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of Utah as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado.

Governor Herbert also issued the following statement regarding the tragedy:

The people of Utah are deeply saddened by the senseless acts of violence in Aurora, Colorado. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our neighbors to the east.

The flags shall be lowered to half-staff on all state facilities, effective immediately, and shall remain lowered until sunset July 25, 2012.
