Issue Position: Limit Government Spending and Slash the Bureaucracy

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

The growth of state government over the last 20 years is the root cause of our budget crisis. We have become a nanny State, trying to do too many things for too many people. California needs to continue to cut government spending and bureaucracy. I support reductions in state government spending and a strict spending limit tied to inflation and population, and public employee pension reform. The state's priorities should be public safety, classroom spending, and other essential functions and services.
