Blumenthal Statement On Obama Administration's New Small Business Initiatives

Statement

Date: July 11, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued a statement about the six small business initiatives the Obama Administration announced this morning. Five of the initiatives are immediate executive actions that will accelerate federal payments, reduce paperwork, and increase access to loans and tax credits for small businesses, and one of the initiatives is a legislative proposal that would raise the amount of investment small businesses can expense next year.

"I applaud President Obama's strong steps to help small businesses create jobs," Blumenthal said. "The Senate can spur more hiring and job growth by passing the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act that I cosponsored. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to swiftly pass this critically important, job-creating measure. The Senate bill would create up to 13,000 jobs for Connecticut and nearly 1 million jobs for the nation."
