Rep. Barletta Again Votes to Repeal Obamacare

U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, PA-11, voted for the 33rd time to repeal, defund, and dismantle the government takeover of health care Wednesday afternoon.

"Even though the United States Supreme Court said Obamacare is a constitutional law, that doesn't mean it is a good law. The American people have said, time and time again, since before the law was narrowly passed by a partisan Congress, that they do not want this law. That's why I will vote -- over and over -- to repeal Obamacare until it is fully repealed," Rep. Barletta said. "Since the Supreme Court decision a few weeks ago, we learned that Obamacare has already led to the drafting of 13,000 pages of new regulations (and counting); at least 180 boards, commissions, and bureaus; and 21 new or higher taxes. That kind of uncertainty handcuffs small business owners, prevents them from growing, and keeps them from hiring new employees.

"It's very clear that Obamacare hurts millions of Americans, including senior citizens who will see their Medicare slashed by $500 billion and have their healthcare decisions made by a panel of 15 unelected bureaucrats who will determine whether or not a doctor who accepts Medicare gets paid to perform their needed procedures or exams. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, 20 million Americans could lose their employer-sponsored insurance because of Obamacare once it is fully implemented, so more people will have to buy their own health insurance.

"One of the reasons the people of the 11th District sent me to Washington was to repeal and replace Obamacare. In fact, 86 other freshmen were sent to Congress with me largely because of the American people's disapproval of the way Obamacare was passed. The Senate and President Obama still refuse to acknowledge the desire of the American people to repeal this healthcare law, and they will discover the power of the people at the voting booth in November."

The 33rd vote to repeal, defund, or dismantle Obamacare had bipartisan support.
