In order to be a good legislator, I believe that I must put aside my personal beliefs so that I might provide the fair representation that each person deserves. I was raised in the Christian church, where it was instilled in me that it is the duty of only the Creator to pass judgment and it is my duty to love and respect all people.
Unfortunately, the majority party has instead focused their attention on only their personal beliefs, pushing radical social issues upon all Hoosiers, rather than working together to restore our economy.
I respect federal law where the courts have already spoken on abortion, and I will not encroach on a woman's right to choose. Further, I will never take actions that further deprive Hoosiers of preventative healthcare. The majority's focus on removing funding from organizations like Planned Parenthood is spiteful, when no state or federal dollars are used to fund controversial services, such as abortion. Irresponsible actions like these place low-income women in jeopardy by depriving them of critical medical care, such as mammograms and pap smears.
