Issue Position

Over the past few years, we have watched the economy suffer. Now on the turn of events, the economy is showing signs of recovery, but our local businesses are not. There are still plenty of small business owners in our area wondering if they will even be in business next month. We as legislators need to look at this as a real issue. There are things that can be addressed to help our small business community in the Eastern Panhandle as well as getting people back to work. My plan is to address the taxing system for small businesses as well as the other expenses business owners have to pay just to stay in business. Right now is a crucial time, and it's a make or break time for many. So we need to allocate our authority to help all the business owners in the area, as well as those out of work. We have a lot of good people that can't find jobs right now. We need to fix that; get them back to work; and increase our quality of living.
