Renacci: The Court Got it Wrong, Congress Must Get it Right

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Representative Jim Renacci (OH-16) released the following statement after the Supreme Court announced its decision to leave the President's health care law intact:

"I stand with millions of Americans and a clear majority of 16th District residents in voicing my disappointment in today's ruling by the Supreme Court, which upheld President Obama's health care overhaul. The Obama-Sutton health care law is not only driving up premiums on struggling families, but will also force millions of Americans from their health care plans and put unelected Washington bureaucrats between patients and their doctors. While the Court has determined that the law complies with the constitution, that doesn't mean it complies with common sense. I remain committed to the full repeal of this law and replacing it with common sense reforms that will drive down costs and preserve a high quality of care for all Americans."

A staunch opponent of the President's health care law, Jim Renacci has proposed a wide range of reforms targeted at driving down costs and increasing access to quality care for all Americans. Among the cost-based proposals he has supported are increasing competition in the marketplace by allowing for the purchase of insurance across state lines and implementing badly needed tort reform to end the costly practice of defensive medicine. In contrast, career politician Betty Sutton is not only a vocal supporter of ObamaCare but also sought to grow the government's role in health care even further by supporting the far-left "public option" plan.
