The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution sets forth the fundamental right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, regardless of what state the individual resides in, and I have always received A-ratings from the National Rifle Association because of my positions.
I also fully support US Senate Bill 2205, which prohibits the United States from funding any United Nations Arms Trade Treaty that restricts our 2nd Amendment rights.
Furthermore, I support the national Right-to-Carry reciprocity legislation, which would recognize a person's right to carry a firearm while traveling throughout the United States if a person is licensed to carry a firearm by any state.
Not only does the idea of banning firearms violate basic rights, it contradicts common sense. Increasing government restrictions and regulations on gun-owners has been shown to have no lasting effect on reducing criminal activity, but it does infringe upon innocent citizens' rights to self-protection and constitutes a waste of limited government resources, since criminals obtain firearms without complying with such requirements.
