Palazzo Joins Colleagues to Call for Senate Action on Sequestration

Statement

Date: June 29, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steven Palazzo (R-MS), member of the House Armed Services Committee, Marine Corps veteran, and the only member of Congress also actively serving in the National Guard, joined fellow Republicans today in calling on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to come to the table to resolve sequestration. In addition to the letter, Palazzo also released a statement:

"These looming defense cuts are a threat to our men and women in uniform as well as our economic and national security," Palazzo stated. "In the House Armed Services Committee, we've offered multiple solutions to help put a stop to these cuts. It is time for the Democrat leadership in the Senate to bring these bills to the floor for a vote or come to the table with their own solutions. That is why I joined my colleagues this week in asking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to either lead on this issue or get out of the way."
