Shinagawa Visits Cattaraugus County for 4-H Clay Pigeon Shoot

Press Release

Date: May 5, 2012

Today Nate Shinagawa, Congressional candidate in New York's 23rd District, attended the Cattaraugus County 4-H Club Shotgun Clay Pigeon shooting at the Ellicottville Sportsmans Club.

"The 4-H Club is giving families a great opportunity to spend time together. Clay pigeon shooting teaches kids proper respect for firearms, safety, and sportsmanship, and it gets them involved in something positive," Shinagawa said.

Over 50 people, mostly parents and their children, attended the event. Shinagawa spoke with the families there about their property taxes, healthcare costs, investing in youth programs, and the importance of voting for elected officials based on the qualities of the people running and not just their party affiliation.

"Coming to community events like this one is my favorite part of campaigning across the Southern Tier," said Shinagawa. After shooting several clay pigeons with a single barrel shotgun, he joked, "Not bad for a Democrat!"
