As the father of four sons and the grandfather of three, Scott knows that a strong education system is not only the key to their future, but also to the economic future of Utah. Scott strongly believes that education decisions should be made by local school boards, school districts, and parents.

Scott is a Smart Schools advocate, and believes that in the 21st century, technology should be an integral part of a school's curriculum.

Scott believes that the federal government must play a limited role in the education of our children. He is a longtime critic of the No Child Left Act and believes that it must be reformed. While he has no doubt about the need for smart investments in education and accountability in schools, Scott believes that the act's one-size-fits-all approach has not worked in Utah.

Scott will fight for an education plan that maintains local control for communities and that makes sense for Utah.

Scott is also committed to expanding higher education opportunities -- as well as vocational and technical education -- and has focused on lowering the cost of college so that more Utahns are able to earn degrees.

And when those Utahns enter the job force, Scott wants to make sure effective job training is available to maximize their options.
