Richmond Applauds the Supreme Court's Ruling on the Affordable Care Act

Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court's ruling to uphold the Affordable Care Act:

"This is undoubtedly a landmark case in the history of our nation, one that will be associated with other celebrated decisions like Brown v. Board of Education, Miranda v. Arizona, and Gideon v. Wainwright," said Congressman Richmond. "I strongly supported President Obama's push for an overhaul of health insurance programs and applaud the Supreme Court on its decision to uphold the individual mandate which guarantees that the American people, all American people have healthcare coverage. I am proud that today's ruling supports that priority. When Americans look back on this decision many years from now, we can say we were a part of history. We chose to put the needs of the everyday American first."
