Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita made the following statement after he voted in support a House resolution to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his refusal to cooperate with an investigation into the "Fast and Furious" operation:

"Today's bipartisan vote is a vote in support of the rule of law. The American people deserve accountability and transparent answers from their elected officials, but Attorney General Holder has refused to cooperate with Congress' straightforward request for information. As this process continues, we will continue to uphold our constitutional duty to provide oversight to ensure the executive branch is acting in accordance with the law," said Rokita.

The contempt resolution passed the House on a 255-67 vote, with seventeen Democrats voting in support of the resolution. Dozens of other Democrat House members marched off the floor and refused to participate in the vote.
