Robert Hurt Statement On Virginia State Of Emergency

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) released the following statement today encouraging 5th District Virginians to take caution as Governor McDonnell has declared a State of Emergency in response to the severe weather that affected the Commonwealth last night:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were affected by the destructive storm that swept through the Commonwealth last night, and especially with those who suffered the damage and the loss of life in Albemarle and Bedford counties. The widespread power outages caused by last night's storms and the forecasted triple-digit temperatures for the next several days, have created a dangerous situation for those throughout the 5th District. Please be sure to reach out to friends and neighbors while authorities and power companies continue to work to restore power to the affected areas."
