Michaud Visits Brownville, Urges Residents to Continue Reporting Damage

Location: Bangor, ME

Today, Congressman Mike Michaud met with Brownville Town Manager Matthew Pineo to tour the flood damage and issued the following statement:

"I was encouraged by the progress that repair crews have made in Brownville and some of the surrounding areas. While the roads are now largely operational, it is clear that there is still work to be done. My staff and I are receiving regular updates from MEMA during their ongoing damage assessments, and I remain ready to ensure that any request for disaster assistance is quickly processed by FEMA. I join Town Manager Matthew Pineo in urging residents to report damages to their businesses and homes to the town office. The town office number is 207-965-2561.

"During the last week, my staff and I have connected with the towns affected by the floods to offer our support and services. In addition to the towns, we have reached out to Cate Street, Maine Montreal Atlantic Railway, MEMA and the Maine Department of Transportation. I have also spoken to FEMA Region 1 Administrator Don Boyce to pass along information about the floods from the communities and to alert him to a possible request for disaster relief from the state.

"I am continuing to follow this matter closely and assist in anyway I can to ensure that a request for disaster assistance is quickly processed by FEMA."
