Tester Announces First Senate Debate with Rehberg, Cox

Press Release

Date: June 25, 2012
Location: Billings, MT
Issues: Elections

Fresh off an unchallenged Primary Election win, Montana farmer Jon Tester today announced his first U.S. Senate debate of the year, to take place on Saturday, June 16, in Big Sky between Tester, Congressman Dennis Rehberg and Libertarian candidate Dan Cox.

A second debate, between Tester and Rehberg, will take place on Sunday, June 24 in Whitefish, sponsored by the Montana Broadcasters Association.
"This is an opportunity for folks to compare my record of holding myself accountable to Montana, fighting for our freedoms, and making responsible decisions," Tester said. "Montanans have very serious concerns about the Congressman's support for the Patriot Act, REAL ID, and his record of giving special tax loopholes to millionaires--while voting against Montana seniors, veterans and education."

Tester won Tuesday's Primary Election with more than 99 percent of the vote. Rehberg lost one in four votes in his own Primary race against Dennis Teske, a farmer from Terry, Mont.

The June 16 debate will take place at Buck's T-4 Lodge in Big Sky, beginning at 2 p.m. MDT.
