Congressman Tim Ryan issued the following statement in support of a Congressional Resolution introduced by Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro honoring Catholic Sisters for their contribution to the United States:
"During my life, I have had the great honor of knowing a number of Catholic sisters. These women of faith are selfless givers and constantly demonstrate an unwavering commitment to social justice. In the 17th Congressional District, Catholic sisters have dedicated their lives to teaching our children in catholic schools and universities, healing our sick through Humility of Mary Health Partners, and advocating for women and children through organizations like Beatitude House and Emmanuel Community Care Center."
"Locally and across the nation, approximately 59,000 Catholic Sisters are still dedicated to serving God's people. Isaiah chapter 25 says, "For you have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in distress.' This is the legacy of the work of American Catholic Sisters, and I commend them and honor them for their work. They are deserving of our unending gratitude."
