The House of Representatives continued its focus on American energy production this week passing a domestic power package drafted by the House Energy Action Team (HEAT).
The "Domestic Energy and Jobs Act" incorporates seven bills that embrace an all-of-the-above energy strategy and promote American manufacturing as a catalyst to America's overall economic recovery. Among other reforms, the legislation requires the administration to open additional federal lands for oil and gas production equal to any drawdown from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and creates an interagency working group to estimate the impacts of certain rulemakings on fuel prices, jobs and the economy.
Empowering innovators and harnessing our domestic energy capabilities will help lower gas prices and get folks back to work. Accordingly, these bills aim to stabilize fuel prices and build a steady supply of natural gas, while generating good paying energy industry jobs.
