District 23 has been a rapidly growing district in recent years and our education infrastructure has not been able to keep up with the pace of our growth. Many of existing schools are outdated and have fallen into disrepair. As your state senator, I will fight for our fair share of state funding for school repairs and new construction. I will look for additional resources to improve our educational system, particularly in the area of math, science and technology.
As the parent of three children who have attended Colorado colleges, I understand first-hand the need to keep college affordable. I will fight against further tuition increases at the community and state college levels. We need more affordable vocational education opportunities for non-traditional students. I will work to expand vocational training offerings and re-emphasize the importance of skilled trades within our state and community college system and at the high school level.
